Glowforge, by definition, a 3D Laser Printer. It can cut and engrave wood, leather, acrylic etc. For most, it's a life changing investment machine. All 3 of the Glowforge machines have the same basic features: Cut, Score, & Engrave. The Basic has the lowest price. This is great for those who choose to do this as a hobby and have enough time and patience to allow it to cool down. The Plus has 2x speed and a longer warranty at 1 full year, rather than 6 months.
The Glowforge Pro has 3x enhanced top speed and cools down the quickest for all day use. It's ideal for someone ready to go all in for business! But at such a fancy price, what really put me over the edge? The passthrough slot. This opens up allowing you to cut larger than the size of your machine. Down the road, you cannot return or exchange your Glowforge to upgrade. Whichever you choose, make sure it's the machine for you. If you are only interested in small cuts and a hobby.. Then the Pro may not be for you.
Getting inside my brain...
I could see how happy I would be holding my last name, freshly cut on wood. And how many other people could I make happy? How much money could I make from a big sign? I'm thinking I could make $100 per name. So at $100 at 60 times.. that's $6,000. Is that all it takes?
Well I'm starting 2020 with a brand new Glowforge, so I hope to find out. On my short journey so far, I've come across several users who do this for a living. I hope to do the same.
